Good oral and written communication skills is imperative in today’s hospitality industry and it permeates all aspects of our personal and professional lives. It is the key to having positive interactions and to building and maintaining favorable relationships. The ability to communicate and to have that message understood is vital in today’s world. Good communication skills will give you confidence that your message will be effective.
This course aims to analyze and review different aspects of communication in the hospitality industry, various forms of communication and how to effectively communicate. Through this course, the student will acquire knowledge, skills and develop the required attitude necessary for a good communicator. The student will develop their writing skills, interpersonal skills, intrapersonal skills, intercultural skills and oral presentation in the hospitality industry. This course will also help the learner improve their skills on various written forms of communication: Memos, Letter, Email, Reports, Resume, Concept Papers/ Proposals, Business plans and Special Reports
among others. Students will also understand importance of effective listening, how to speak in public learn job application strategies.
